Bretti Reserve

On the Thunderbolts Way just north of Gloucester is Bretti Reserve, a very pleasant spot for an overnighter beside the Barnard River. Charlie is cooking dinner, there's a few cows in the background and the sun is about to set over the Barrington Tops. Not a bad way to spend an evening in the Australian bush.

The route north along Thunderbolts Way runs from near Karuah north of Newcastle to Armidale on the New England Highway. It's an interesting way to go from Sydney to Brisbane but takes longer as the roads are pretty rough in places. The scenery though is pectacular.
