Swampy Plains River

Our camp beside the Swampy Plains River at Geehi in the Australian Alps.

Charlie putting in some hard yards before breakfast. Even though this was March, the nights were quite cold and in a month or two it would have been below zero every night. This great camping spot is right under the main range of the Australian Snowy Mountains and with the river right beside you, it's a magic place for a few days camping.

That's Mt Townsend in the background with Mt Kosciusko just behind it. From our camping spot to the top of the range is a vertical rise of almost 6,000 ft for a horizontal distance of 8 clicks. In winter the whole range is covered in snow.
